Marks wins 700th in 3-2 victory over Gwinnett

GREENVILLE, SC – The Greenville Grrrowl of the ECHL, proud affiliates of the Chicago Blackhawks and Edmonton Oilers have announced that HEAD COACH JOHN MARKS has entered 700-win club after Thursday's 3-2 win over the Gwinnett Gladiators at the BI-LO Center in Greenville, SC. Coach marks joins six others on the all-time coaching list in professional hockey. The leader of that prestigious group is Scotty Bowman with 1,511 wins in 2,571 total career games. In 1,401 total professional games coached, Marks' current overall record stands at 700-578-124.

The win was the fifth consecutive for the Grrrowl, and moves the record to 15-11-3. Greenville's 33 points puts it ahead of Columbia and Pee Dee and alone in second place of the Eastern Division (3 points behind Charlotte), and equals the total point output for the entire 2003-04 season. Greenville has won 8 of its last 10, and is now 10-3-3 in one-goal games through the first 29 games this season.

Greenville sits in second place, three points behind Charlotte, heading into Columbia Friday for a 2 p.m. game. The Grrrowl play Saturday afternoon (2pm) in Columbia, and will return to the BI-LO Center Saturday for a 7:05 p.m. game against the South Carolina Stingrays. The Greenville Grrrowl will be collecting monetary donations at the next three home games, with the proceeds being given to Center Ice Charities. Center Ice will immediately forward the money on towards the American Red Cross International Response Fund to benefit Tsunami and Earthquake Victims in Southeast Asia.
