FLORENCE, SC -- Jeff Szwez tied a team record with four goals as the Pee Dee Pride snapped a four-game losing streak with a 7-4 win over the Augusta Lynx in front of 2,212 fans Friday night at the Florence Civic Center.
Szwez joins Peter Geronazzo (11/6/98 vs. Birmingham) as the only players in team history to record four goals in a game. All four of Szwez' goals came in the third period, as the Pride broke open a 2-1 contest with five third-period markers.
Mark Mullen assisted on all four of Szwez' goals, while Adam Elzinga recorded assists on three of the goals. Tyler Kindle added a goal and two helpers for the Pride, who improve to 16-10-2 on the season with the win.
The win snapped the Pride's losing streak at four games, and allowed the team to avoid setting a new team record for most consecutive losses.
Nick Boucher stopped 33 of 37 Augusta shots to record his 11th win of the season. The Pride outshot the Lynx 49-37 in the game.
Saturday, the Pride host the Columbia Inferno at 7:30 p.m. Tickets for all Pride home games are available at the Florence Civic Center Box Office, or through TicketMaster at (843) 679-9333 or www.ticketmaster.com.
