Marietta, Georgia Native Jones Named ECHL Rookie of the Month

Gladiators forward Doug Jones has been named ECHL Rookie of the Month after he collected a total of 10 points in eight games in October. He tallied five goals and five assists including one power play goal and one game winning goal for Gwinnett in the month.

The Marietta, Georgia native opened the season with two assists in the 4-2 loss to South Carolina on Opening Night.

Jones scored two goals in a 4-2 loss to the Ontario Reign on October 19th and had two points (one goal, one assist) in a 4-3 win at Greenville on October 21st. Between October 21st and October 26th, Jones had a three game point scoring streak as he amassed five of his 10 points in the month in that span.

Jones joined the Gladiators for the last five games of the season last year and scored four points (three goals, one assist) before returning to Dartmouth College to finish his senior season. During Jones' last year at Dartmouth in 2011-12, he earned 25 points (11 goals, 14 assists) in 31 games and was named team MVP.

The Gladiators are the ECHL Affiliate of the Phoenix Coyotes of the National Hockey League and are members of the ECHL, the Premier "AA" Hockey League and play all home games at the 11,355-seat Arena at Gwinnett Center, located just off I-85 on Sugarloaf Parkway in Duluth.
