Club de Foot Montreal News Release

MONTREAL - Major League Soccer announced Wednesday that Impact Designated Player Marco Di Vaio was named one of three finalists for the MLS Volkswagen Most Valuable Player Award while defender Jeb Brovsky is nominated for the MLS WORKS Humanitarian of the Year Award.

Given to the top vote recipient in selected categories, the 2013 MLS Awards were voted on by all 19 clubs and their players as well as media members.

Volkswagen Most Valuable Player Finalists

Marco Di Vaio (Montreal Impact)

Robbie Keane (LA Galaxy)

Mike Magee (Chicago Fire)

Marco Di Vaio earns his first nomination for the MLS Volskwagen Most Valuable Player Award after being named the 2013 Impact Player of the Year, leading the team in scoring and finishing third in the league with 20 goals in 33 games played, 31 as a starter, for a total of 2,746 minutes. He became just the 11th player in league history to reach the 20-goal plateau in a single season this year, with five of those markers game winners.

Of the top three marksmen in MLS, he's the only striker to score all of his 20 goals from the run of play (no PK or free-kicks).

Di Vaio, who had four multiple goal games this season, was one of just seven players to have recorded a hat trick this season, on May 25 against the Philadelphia Union, which earned him MLS Player of the Week honours for Week 28. He was also selected to take part in the MLS All-Star Game against AS Roma.

The winner will be announced on December 5.

MLS WORKS Humanitarian of the Year Finalists

Jeb Brovsky (Montreal Impact)

Dwayne De Rosario (D.C. United)

Matt Reis (New England Revolution)

Defender Jeb Brovsky also earns a first nomination for the MLS WORKS Humanitarian of the Year Award.

The Colorado native continues his outstanding work within the local and international communities, helping disadvantaged children through fundraising efforts, camps and lectures. His most recent endeavor, Operation Quetzal, piloted by his non-profit organization Peace Pandemic, was to bring 400 disadvantaged children from Guatemala - many of whom were orphans - to the Impact's Champions League game versus CD Heredia in Guatemala City. Along with a supporters group dedicated to him and the good works he does called the Jebi Knights, Brovsky was able to raise enough money to buy tickets, provide transportation and purchase a number of Impact souvenirs for all of his young guests. Brovsky and his wife Caitlin had previously met a number of those kids on a philanthropic trip to Guatemala last Christmas, where he used soccer and workshops to empower young girls and educate boys on the treatment of women, which earned him an MLS WORKS Humanitarian of the Month award for March.

In Montreal, Brovsky continues to be involved at the local level, participating in the Procure Walk for Life to raise money for prostate cancer, as well as a number of other humanitarian ventures. In his rookie season in MLS, the Notre-Dame product was named the MLS WORKS Humanitarian of the Month in July and the 2011 Whitecaps Foundation Humanitarian of the Year.

The winner will be announced on November 26.
