Marauders Rally for Naught

April 26, 2016 - Florida State League (FSL1)
Bradenton Marauders News Release

Bradenton, FL-- The Bradenton Marauders (8-11) erased an early 3-0 deficit but could not fend off the Palm Beach Cardinals (11-8) in a 4-3 loss on Tuesday night at McKechnie Field. Bradenton starter RHP Yeudy Garcia was chased after retiring just one of the first five batters and surrendering three runs, two earned.

The Marauders struck back at the first opportunity, trimming the 3-0 deficit to 3-1 in the first. 2B Kevin Kramer doubled with one away and scored on a two-out two-sacker from 1B Jerrick Suiter. Bradenton scored two more runs against Austin Gomber (W, 3-1) in the second inning to tie the score. 3B Connor Joe and RF Michael Suchy each had doubles in the second inning rally.

After drawing even 3-3, the Marauders were unable to maintain the momentum. Blake Drake doubled off RHP Henry Hirsch (L, 0-1) to start the top of the third. A ground out moved Drake to third base where he scored on a two-out single by Steve Bean. That run proved to be the final tally of the game.

RHP Edgar Santana continued his incredible start to the season, delivering 3 1/3 scoreless innings and striking out four. He has yet to walk a batter or allow a run this year. RHP Nick Neumann tossed three scoreless out of the pen.

The Cardinals received four perfect innings from their bullpen. Rowan Wick struck out four out of six batters faced and Kevin Herget set down all six men he faced in order to earn his fourth save.
