Bradenton Marauders News Release

CLEARWATER, Fla. - The Marauders slugged their way to an 8-1 win over the Clearwater Threshers on Saturday night at BayCare Ballpark, clinching a trip to the Low-A Southeast postseason.

The Marauders (69-43) will face the Tampa Tarpons in the best-of-five league championship series, beginning September 21.

Alexander Mojica, Endy Rodriguez, and Ernny Ordonez all homered for the Marauders in the victory, and starter Logan Hofmann (6-3) combined with relievers Christian Charle and Carlos Campos to hold the Threshers (49-60) to one run on four hits.

Both teams remained scoreless in the game until the bottom of the fourth inning, when the Threshers loaded the bases against Hofmann. Baron Radcliff lifted a sacrifice fly to deep right field, scoring Jared Carr for a 1-0 Clearwater lead, but no additional runs scored.

Mojica tied the score in the fifth with a line-drive solo homer to left field off Gabriel Cotto (2-2), and the Marauders took a 3-1 lead in the sixth on a two-run homer to left-center by Rodriguez. Cotto also uncorked a wild pitch in the inning that allowed Dariel Lopez to score, extending Bradenton's lead to 4-1.

The Marauders capped their scoring with a four-run seventh inning, as Jase Bowen scored from third on a wild pitch by reliever Tommy McCollum and Ordonez launched a three-run homer to right field.

Hofmann earned the win, escaping numerous jams in five innings of work. The right-hander stranded a runner on second base in the first inning, escaped a second-and-third, none-out jam in the second by striking out three straight batters, and stranded two in scoring position in the fourth after the Radcliff sacrifice fly. Charle retired eight of 10 batters he faced over three innings of scoreless relief, and Campos finished the game in the ninth with a pair of strikeouts and a game-ending groundout to Maikol Escotto at shortstop.

Cotto took the loss for Clearwater, holding the Marauders scoreless over his first four innings before surrendering the home runs to Mojica and Rodriguez.

Rodriguez finished a triple shy of the cycle for the second time in the series and has now hit safely in 15 of his last 17 games. Jackson Glenn went 0-for-4 but drew a walk to extend his on-base streak to 23 consecutive games.

The series concludes Sunday with first pitch scheduled for 12 p.m. at BayCare Ballpark. RHP Po-Yu Chen will start for the Marauders against RHP Cristian Hernandez for the Threshers.
