Clearwater Threshers News Release
CLEARWATER, Fla. - The Clearwater Threshers fell short to the Bradenton Marauders 8-1 on First Responders' Night Saturday at BayCare Ballpark.
The two teams remained scoreless until the bottom of the fourth inning when Clearwater (49-60) got a run on the board. Jared Carr singled to lead off the inning and then stole second base. T.J. Rumfield drew a four-pitch walk and Freylin Minyety lined a single into right field to load the bases with one out. Baron Radcliff fired a sacrifice fly to right field that scored Carr and gave the Threshers a 1-0 lead.
The scoring was all Bradenton (69-43) the rest of the way. Alexander Mojica lifted a solo home run in the fifth inning to tie the game and Endy Rodriguez hit a two-run blast in the sixth that powered the Marauders ahead 3-1. Wild pitches in the sixth and seventh innings saw two more runs score and Ernny Ordoñez secured a playoff spot for Bradenton with a three-run homer.
The Threshers and Marauders face off in the series finale and final home game of the Threshers 2021 season on Sunday afternoon. RHP Cristian Hernandez will be on the bump for the Threshers against RHP Po-Yu Chen. Gates open at 11:00 a.m. for the 12:00 p.m. matinee. TICKETS
