Greensboro Generals News Release

Greensboro, NC — The Greensboro Generals of the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL) have had goaltender Jamie Hodson reassigned to them by the St. John's Maple Leafs of the American Hockey League (AHL). Hodson dressed for last night's overtime defeat to the Roanoke Express, and he will get his first game action of the season tonight, as he starts in net on the road against the Augusta Lynx. Tonight's game is at 7:35 and can be heard on WPET 950-AM and www.greensborogenerals.com.

Hodson, 22, comes to the Generals after participating and excelling in the training camps of the Toronto Maple Leafs and the St. John's Maple Leafs. Hodson played for Generals head coach Rick Adduono (ah-DOO-no) last season as a rookie for the South Carolina Stingrays, earning a sparkling 20-9-3 record with a 3.01 goals against average and .911 save percentage in 36 contests. Hodson was drafted by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the third round of the 1998 draft, and is still their property.

"Jamie's just a young kid with a world of potential," says Adduono. "I saw first-hand last season the ability he brings to the table, and getting 20 wins as a rookie goaltender is a tremendous accomplishment. There's no question he could be playing for the Toronto Maple Leafs in the future."

To make room for Hodson, the Generals released goaltender John Chain. Chain had yet to play a game this year.

The Generals' home opener is Friday, October 25 at 7:30 against the Reading Royals. Opening night is Hooters Magnetic Schedule Night, with the first 2,000 fans entering the building receiving a Generals 2002-2003 schedule. The Generals are currently selling season tickets for all 36 home games for as low as $255.00 for goal view seats. Anyone purchasing season tickets will receive a season parking pass absolutely free while supplies last. Fans can receive season ticket and other information by clicking on the Generals new team website, www.greensborogenerals.com.
