EL DÍA DE LA FAMILIA: The TinCaps are unveiling their new alternate identity this weekend as the Manzanas Luchadoras de Fort Wayne, while the South Bend Cubs are taking on their Los Cabritos Maldichos identity (Fighting Apples vs. the Cursed Goats). It's part of Minor League Baseball's "Copa de la Diversión" ("Fun Cup"), embracing the culture and values that resonate most with the local Hispanic/Latino community.

WELCOME ABOARD, AND BACK: On Thursday, the Padres added 2 righty relievers to the TinCaps' roster in 22-year-old Alan Mundo and 24-year-old Keegan Collett. This comes after 3 players joined the squad Wednesday: 22-year-old infielder Carlos Luis, the reigning California League Player of the Week; 20-year-old corner outfielder Albert Fabian; and 23-year-old infielder/outfielder Reinaldo Ilarraza, who was with the team earlier this season and past years.

TRADE DEADLINE: 4 TinCaps were traded earlier this week by the Padres. In Monday's trade for Brewers closer Josh Hader, starter Robert Gasser was dealt. Tuesday, outfielder Robert Hassell III was sent to Washington in a deal to acquire Juan Soto and Josh Bell. Outfielder Corey Rosier and infielder Max Ferguson were traded to Boston, too.

WHAT'S BEEN LOST: Among qualifying players in the Midwest League, Hassell ranked 4th in average (.299) and RBIs (55), 9th in OBP (379), and 10th in OPS (.846). His 134 wRC+ ranked 9th... Gasser ranked 3rd in strikeouts (115) and 9th in ERA (4.18) and WHIP (1.26)...Rosier led the league in runs (69) and triples (8), while ranking 4th in steals (33), 6th in walks (54), and 8th in OBP (.381)... Ferguson was 5th in MiLB in steals (55).

JOSHUA MEARS: Prior to Friday, over his last 8 games, had been 9-for-29 (.310) with a team-best .931 OPS. Was on a season-best 7-game hitting streak. Dating back to May 5, had a 16-game on-base streak (was tied with Brandon Valenzuela for the 3rd longest active streak in the league; Valenzuela up to 17).

JARRYD DALE: Ranks 4th in the MWL in games (95), 5th in walks (58), and 10th in stolen bases (22).

CAUGHT 'EM: TinCaps catchers are 2nd in the MWL in throwing runners out trying to steal (34 CS). Brandon Valenzuela leads the league with 23, while Anthony Vilar has nabbed 9, and Adam Kerner has caught 2.

PATIENT: The TinCaps lead the MWL in walks drawn (4.7 per game).

MISCELLANEOUS: The TinCaps are 32-16 when scoring first (67% win rate) and 10-41 when they don't (19%)... Fort Wayne is 12-13 in 1-run games, 5-14 in 2-run games, and 1-3 in extra-innings.

HOT CAPS: The TinCaps are undefeated over their last 4 series (July 4-10 vs. LC: 3-3, July 12-17 vs. LAN: 4-2, July 22-24 @ DAY: 2-1, July 26-31 @ PEO: 3-3), their longest unbeaten series-streak of the year.
