The Renegades bounced back to .500 with a 4-0 win over the Vermont Expos at Dutchess Stadium. Brandon Mann (W, 1- 0) started the game for the Renegades pitching six innings, allowing no runs while striking out nine. Andrew Sonnanstine followed Mann, pitching two innings, allowing two hits and Ryan Bitter earned his first save of the season pitching a perfect ninth, striking out two.
Designated Hitter Matthew Spring drove in the first run of the game in the bottom of the 5th, with a sacrifice fly with the bases loaded. Spring then added the second run of the game with a single in the 8th driving in left fielder Francisco Leandro. Third baseman Patrick Cottrell followed Spring with an RBI double of his own. Two batters later, right fielder Fernando Frias drove in the final run of the game with a RBI single.
Jon Felfoldi, (L, 1- 0) started the game for the Expos, pitching five innings, allowing four hits and one run. Expos second baseman Brad Ditter was 2-3 on the night with a walk.
The Renegades and Expos continue their three game series tomorrow night at Dutchess Stadium. On the mound for the Renegades will be RHP Eduardo Delacruz (0- 0, 1.80 ERA) and RHP Chris Goodman (0- 0, 11.25 ERA) for the Expos. First pitch is scheduled for 7:11 PM.
