
Mankato takes series from Lunkers with 6-2 victory

A four-run second inning would propel the Mankato MoonDogs to a 6-2 victory of the Brainerd Lakes Area Lunkers on Monday night at Franklin Rogers Park in Mankato. The MoonDogs took two out of three games against the Lunkers in the series.
With the win, the MoonDogs move to (9-3) overall, one and a half games up on the Lunkers in the North Division. The Lunkers fall to (8-5).
Lunkers starting pitcher Charlie Henderson struggled in the 2nd inning for the Lunkers. He gave up five hits and four runs to the MoonDogs in the inning, including three straight singles to start the inning.
Shuan Cooper would pick up two RBIs for the MoonDogs in the win.
Wade Wass would bring in the first Lunker run after reaching on a fielder's choice in the 4th inning, scoring Ryan Abrahamson from 1st base. The second Lunker run came with Dan Olinger scoring on a wild pitch.
Blake Schwartz gets the win for Mankato to move to (2-0) on the season. He pitched five and two/thirds innings for the MoonDogs and gave up one unearned run, five hits and struck out seven. Henderson took his first loss of the season for the Lunkers.
The Brainerd Lakes Area Lunkers are back in action Tuesday night at St. Cloud. First pitch is scheduled for 7:05.
