Winnipeg Blue Bombers News Release
WINNIPEG, MB â The Winnipeg Blue Bombers today added two University of Manitoba Bison standouts to its roster: linebacker Joey Mikawoz and offensive lineman Devin Rodger.
Mikawoz (6-2, 235, Manitoba '02, DOB: Jan. 24, 1976 in Winnipeg, MB) first became a Blue Bomber courtesy of the 2002 Canadian College Draft, where he was taken in the 5th Round (44th Overall).
Winnipeg originally signed Rodger (6-1, 300, Manitoba '02, DOB: May 16, 1976 in 100 Mile House, BC) June 3, 2002 after tackle Mike Bosnic departed camp and centre Brandon Dyson failed to show up.
Both players performed well at training camp in 2002. Mikawoz appeared to have a spot on the club, only to get hurt in the team's first exhibition game (Winnipeg vs. Saskatchewan, June 8, 2002). Rodger held his own against much-older and experienced CFLers. He also engaged in several well-publicized scraps in the team's daily camp workouts.
