Goals:
- John Albert takes the puck off the end boards and brings it around to the front of the net. During the scramble in front between the Stars defenceman and goaltender Maxime Lagace the puck ends up in the net :27 into the second period.
- During a scramble out front, Jason Dickinson scores on the powerplay backhanding it past a down-and-out Eric Comrie at 14:03 of the second period.
- While in front of the Stars net, the puck deflects off the leg of Darren Kramer and past Lagace off a pass from Austen Brassard at 3:30 of the third period.
- While on a five-on-three powerplay, Brett Ritchie takes a wrist shot which beats a screened Comrie at 17:31 of the third period.
- As the Moose tried to kill off the second penalty, Jason Dickinson scores his second of the game off a wrist shot on a two-on-one past Eric Comrie with just :47 seconds remaining in the third period.
Highlights/Notes:
- All three of the Stars goals were scored on a powerplay. It was the second consecutive game that the Moose gave up three powerplay goals.
- John Albert extended his point streak to three games with a goal. He has recorded a point in four of his last five games (2G, 2A).
- Patrice Cormier recorded an assist for the second consecutive game and now has three assists in his last two games.
- Austen Brassard recorded a point for the second straight game with an assist. He has a goal and two assists in his last two games.
- Eric Comrie made 30+ saves for the 18th time this season. He broke the 1000th save plateau and continues to sit on top of the AHL for most saves with 1,009. Only two other AHL goalies have more than 900 saves this season.
- The Moose lost for only the second time in regulation when scoring the first goal of the game at home (6-2-0-1).
- Manitoba lost for just the second time in regulation at home in a one goal game (6-2-1-2).
- The Stars lead the season series against the Moose 1-0-0-0 with three games remaining between the two teams this year.
The Manitoba Moose play the rematch against the Texas Stars at the MTS Centre on Wednesday, Feb. 10. Puck drop is at 7 p.m.
