Manitoba Moose News Release
Goals:
- The Checkers create a turnover at centre ice and charge in on a two-on-two Zach Boychuk passes it to David Wohlberg who wrists it over the shoulder of Eric Comrie at 6:39 of the first period.
- Scott Kosmachuk uses his speed to burst past the defenders to win the race to the puck, he drives the net and wrists it past the shoulder of Daniel Altshuller with just 30.4 seconds remaining in the first.
- Phil Di Giuseppe takes a wrist shot from the left side that goes through the Moose defender and past a screened Eric Comrie at 17:16 of the second period.
- Charlotte wins the race to the puck in the Moose end on the powerplay. Trevor Carrick passes it out to Ethan Werek who drives the front of the net, his backhand shot deflects off the stick of the Moose defender and past Comrie at 4:34 of the third period.
- Derek Ryan breaks and drives to the middle of the ice where he shoots a hard wrist shot past Comrie at 6:25 of the third.
Highlights/Notes:
- The Moose played the game without Patrice Cormier and JC Lipon who were recalled to the Winnipeg Jets earlier in the day.
- Eric Comrie made his 16th consecutive start in the Moose net. He made 24 saves in the loss.
- Paul Postma had his three game point streak snapped.
- Scott Kosmachuk scored his sixth goal of the season. He is tied for fourth on the team in goals.
- Charlotte now leads the season series 3-1-0-0 over the Moose. They will face each other four more times this season all at the MTS Centre.
- Ethan Werek scored for the second straight game against the Moose. He has scored a goal in each of Charlotte's last four games.
- The Moose have lost seven straight on the road.
- The Checkers have now earned at least one point in 15 of their last 16 games compiling a record of 13-1-1-1.
The Moose will travel to California for the final six games of this road trip beginning with the Ontario Reign on Wednesday, Jan. 20 at 9 p.m. CT.
