MANCHESTER, NH - The Mayor of the City of Manchester, Frank Guinta, has extended a friendly challenge to his counterpart in the City of Providence, David Cicilline, as the Manchester Monarchs take on the Providence Bruins in a best-of-seven series in the American Hockey League's 2007 Calder Cup Atlantic Division Finals.

The "gentlemen's" wager is based on the outcome of the series. The terms of this wager are as follows:

1. The mayor of the losing city will wear the hockey jersey of the winning team at the next scheduled city council meeting following the last game of the series.

2. The mayor of the losing city shall donate $100 to the primary charity of the winning team (Guinta: The Monarchs Care Foundation; Cicilline: Volunteers in Providence Schools program).

"As Mayor of Manchester, I am delighted that Mayor Cicilline has accepted this good natured wager. I think I can speak for both cities when I wish the respective teams well in the remaining games of the series. Both cities have many things to be thankful for including two fantastic hockey franchises. I look forward to the remaining games of this exciting series and trust Mayor Cicilline looks good in Monarchs purple. I am fairly confident that I will not be wearing Bruins black anytime soon."

"With the power of the P-Bruins, and with the fighting spirit of our entire community behind our hometown team, I'm confident that the Bruins will prevail in the best of seven series," said Mayor Cicilline. "I certainly wish the Monarchs and Mayor Guinta well, but I predict that Mayor Guinta will be sporting a P-Bruins jersey very soon,"

The Monarchs and the Bruins play game five of the 2007 Calder Cup Atlantic Division Finals on Saturday, May 12 at the Verizon Wireless Arena at 7:35 p.m. The series is tied 2-2.
