Colorado Mammoth News Release
DENVER - The Colorado Mammoth announced today that it has partnered with Bonfils Blood Center's 'High School Heroes' program to support blood donation by pre-collegiate students. Over the course of the next month, Mammoth players will visit seven high schools in the Denver Metro area to promote blood donation and reward those who help save lives. "We're proud that so many of Colorado's youth have decided to make a difference in their state," said Mammoth president & general manager Steve Govett. "Our presence at the various drives is a way to support Bonfils and thank the donors, and is one of many ways we like to give back to the community."
The team's participation begins next Thursday, March 15 at Denver Academy in Denver, Colo., and continues into mid-April. Last school year, 'High School Heroes' contributed 6,000 donations from students ages 16 and older from nearly 100 schools in the state. "Becoming a blood donor at an early age helps establish an ongoing commitment to save lives," said Jessica Maitland, Bonfils' vice president of marketing and community outreach. "It's one of the most significant ways you can volunteer in your community." Mammoth players, coaches and front-office staff will donate blood during the partnership. Every High School Hero will be rewarded with a complimentary ticket to an upcoming Colorado Mammoth home game. Appearances will be made at the following blood drives:
