QUACK TRACKS

Streaking

The Mallards won their final five regular season games to match their longest winning streak of the season and posted a league-best 11-2-0 record in the month of March.

Pick Six

On the back of their late surge, the Mallards finished the regular season in sixth place, three points ahead of seventh place Arizona and two points behind fifth place Arizona.

Upswing

The Mallards went 19-8-2 in their final 29 games- a stretch that started with a 7-1 win over Denver on January 19- after starting the season 15-18-4.

Home Sweet Home

The Mallards have won eight straight home games. That streak is the Mallards' longest home winning streak since the Flock won 11 consecutive home games between January 25 and February 29, 2004.

Clincher

The Mallards officially clinched a playoff spot last Tuesday night when Bloomington lost to Missouri mere minutes before Mike Monfredo scored in overtime to give the Mallards a win over Denver

The Mick

It was announced today that Mickey Lang finished second in CHL Most Valuable Player voting. Lang led the CHL in shorthanded goals (6) and game winning goals (11), finished tied for the league lead in power play goals (13), ranked second in goals (41), finished fourth in points (83), was tied for sixth in plus/minus rating (+20) and finished seventh in assists (42). Lang ripped off 13 goals in the final 12 games of the regular season and piled up 27 points (16 goals and 11 assists) in his last 19 outings.

Familiar Faces

The Mallards went 9-0-2 while playing ten of their final 11 games against either Bloomington (six) or Missouri (four). The Mallards last weekend swept three games from the Blaze.

We're Baaack

The Mallards have qualified for the playoffs for the second time in three Central Hockey League seasons. The Mallards missed out on the postseason last year after being eliminated three games to one by the Colorado Eagles in the opening round in 2010.

Great Eight

The Mallards finished eight games over .500- their high water mark for the season.

Streakers

Patrik Levesque (3-6-9), Matt Boyd also (3-4-7) and Jason Dixon (2-5-7) finished the season on five-game point-scoring streaks while Jason Kostadine closed the campaign with a four-game point-scoring streak (2-2-2).

Between the Pipes

John Murray finished the season on a five-game winning streak during which he turned in a 1.99 goals against average and a .948 save percentage. Neil Conway gave up just three goals while making 62 saves to earn back-to-back wins Saturday night and yesterday.

Fire Power

The Mallards scored four or more goals in four straights games before scoring twice in yesterday's finale. They also scored at least four times in six of their last eight games. The Mallards averaged 4.1 goals per game in their last 29 outings after scoring only 2.8 goals per contest over their first 37. Quad City finished third in the league in goals scored (219) and produced an average of 3.3 goals per game.

7,531 of Our Closest Friends

The Mallards Friday night drew a crowd of more than 7,000 for the second time this season as 7,531 fans came out to the i wireless Center to see the Mallards defeat the Blaze. The Mallards have now drawn better than 7,000 fans twice in the same campaign for the first time since 2003-04. The Mallards first topped the 7,000 mark this season when 9,347 fans watched the Flock defeat Denver 7-1 on January 19.

Special Teams

The Mallards finished the season fifth in the league on the power play (16.3 percent) and fourth in penalty killing (83.8 percent). The Mallards led the league in shorthanded goals (15).

Leaders

Lang is not the only Mallard who finished the season among the league leaders. Matt Duffy finished ninth in plus/minus (+19) and, among defensemen, finished tied for fourth in points (42), fifth in assists (33) and was tied for seventh in goals (9). Among rookies, Hellyer led the league in points (61) and assists (38) and finished third in goals (23) while Mike Stinziani finished second in goals (26) and tied for second in points (51). Murray finished third in save percentage (.915) while Conway finished eighth in goals against average (2.68) and save percentage (.910).

Milestones

Matt Boyd scored a goal and added two assists in last Friday's win over Bloomington to reach 100 career points.

Head-to-Head

The Mallards went 1-2-1 against Fort Worth during the regular season. The Mallards went 1-1-0 at home against the Brahmas and went 0-1-1 in Fort Worth.

Ins and Outs

Jason Kostadine returned from a two-game suspension last Tuesday against Denver... The Mallards last Thursday signed defenseman Matt Carlson and waived defenseman Tyler Amburgey...Shayne Toporowski was rested last Saturday night and did not travel to the Mallards' game in Bloomington...Anthony Perdicaro missed yesterday's game (illness).

Single Game Tickets

Tickets for the Mallards' first round home games are now on sale. All first round playoff seats will be available for just $12 for adults and $9 for youth 12 and under. In addition, adult opening round tickets for fans who wear green to playoff games as part of the Mallards' "Green Out", will be available for just $10 at the i wireless Center ticket office. Playoff tickets can be purchased in person at the i wireless Center ticket office, at Ticketmaster outlets, through www.ticketmaster.com or through Ticketmaster charge-by-phone toll free at 1-800-745-3000. The ticket office is open weekdays from 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and on game days from 10:00 a.m. until the start of the second period.
