Ray Miron Presidents' Cup Playoff Begin Thursday

GLENDALE, AZ (March 24, 2013) - The CHL's Ray Miron Presidents' Cup Playoffs are set with eight teams set to battle it out for the right hoist the Cup after three rounds and 12 wins in post-season play. The playoffs get underway on Thursday, March 28 when the Governors' Cup champion Allen Americans host the Denver Cutthroats, the Wichita Thunder host the Arizona Sundogs and the Fort Worth Brahmas host the Quad City Mallards. The other series' gets underway on Friday, March 29 when the Rapid City Rush host the Missouri Mavericks.
The eight post-season positions were secured earlier in the week but the seeding was not finalized until the final day of the regular season as the Americans earned the Bud Poile Governors' Cup with their 3-2 win in Tulsa over the Oilers. Allen finished with 87 points and a 39-18-9 record edging out the second place Wichita Thunder by just one point (39-19-8, 86 points).
The final club with home-ice advantage also went down to the last day with the Rapid City Rush (77 points) winning the spot over the Missouri Mavericks (76 points) who needed a point in their Sunday afternoon game at Wichita, a 4-2 loss, to pass the Rush and earn the number four seed. The Rush and Mavericks will clash in the Opening Round.
Playoff rosters for the eight participants are due by Noon CST on Monday, March 25.
