Home Sweet Home
With Sunday's win over Bloomington, the Mallards improved to 5-0-0-0 on home ice against the PrairieThunder. Quad City has four games remaining against Bloomington- all at the i wireless Center. In total, the home team has won 12 of the first 13 meetings between the Mallards and 'Thunder.
Jonesing
Kyle Jones set a league season high and a personal career high by making 52 saves Saturday night in Dayton in a 3-2 loss to the Gems.
Milestone
Chris Lipsett Sunday played his eight hundredth career game. Lipsett marked the occasion by scoring in the Mallards' 8-4 win over Bloomington to extend his point scoring streak to seven straight games (4-3-7). The 14-year veteran has now scored 335 career goals and totaled 685 career points.
Great Eight
The Mallards scored a season high eight goals in Sunday's win over Bloomington. The team's previous season high for goals in a game was six.
Four More
Rookies Justin White and Brandon Marino both set career highs by recording four points (two goals and two assists apiece) in Sunday's win.
Short-Circuit The Mallards have allowed three shorthanded goals in their last four games. Fort Wayne's Sean O'Connor last Wednesday, Port Huron's Tab Lardner last Friday and Bloomington's Matt MacIlvane Sunday all scored during Mallards' power plays.
Powering Up The Mallards have gone 6-for-16 on the power play over their last three games.
Icehawks Grounded
Last Friday's come from behind victory in Port Huron was the Mallards' first regulation win over the Icehawks in nine tries this season.
Patrick Piles On
Patrick Levesque (26-26-52) scored and added two assists Sunday against Bloomington and now ranks fourth in the league in goal scoring.
Ins and Outs
Forward Ryan Fultz (foot) and defensemen Shaun Fisher (back) and Matt Burke (ankle) are on injured reserve.
SCOUTING REPORT
Muskegon
The Lumberjacks have won four of their last five games and 17 of their last 21...The Lumberjacks boast the league‟s best road record (14-7-0-3)...The Lumberjacks average a league best 3.8 goals per game...Todd Robinson (18-64-82) has overtaken teammate Robin Bouchard (43-35-78) for the league lead in points and also leads the league in assists. Bouchard leads the way in goal scoring...Bouchard is 13 goals away from the career minor league goal scoring record of 682...Injury has goaltender Sebastien Centomo (21-7-0-2, 2.41, .914, 3 SO) out of the Lumberjacks' last nine games. Centomo leads IHL goaltenders in wins, is tied for the league lead in shutouts and ranks second in goals against average. Centomo is riding a personal seven game winning streak...Brian Bicek (17-24-41) was named IHL Player of the Week after piling up eight points (four goals, four assists) in his last three games...This is the first year of Rich Kromm‟s second stint as Muskegon coach. Kromm first piloted the Muskegon Fury from 1998-2001. That successful tenure was highlighted was highlighted by the Fury‟s 1999 Colonial Cup title. As a player Kromm skated in 372 NHL games with the Calgary Flames and New York Islanders...The Mallards have gone 2-2-2-2 against the Lumberjacks.
Dayton
The Gems have dropped five of their last six games and eight of their last ten. Dayton's only wins during that ten game stretch came against the Mallards...Dayton enters action this week tied with Flint for sixth place, four points behind fifth place Quad City...Dayton has gone 10-22-0-1 in 33 games since starting the season 11-9-3-0...The Gems are the only IHL team with a losing home record (12-14-1-1)...Mike Vaskivuo (21-18-39) is tied with John Snowden (20-19-39) for the team point scoring lead and overtook Snowden for the club goal scoring lead by scoring the game winner against the Mallards last Saturday. Vaskivuo ranks third among rookies in goals and points...The Gems are the second least penalized team in the league (14.6 minutes per game), just behind the Mallards (14.5)...Derek MacIntyre (10-20-1-0, 2.94, .912) has started four straight games and six of the Gems' last seven...In 20 years as a head coach Dayton's John Marks has won two ECHL titles and one Southern Professional Hockey League championship. As a player Marks skated in 657 National Hockey League games with the Chicago Black Hawks from 1972 through 1982...The Mallards have gone 2-4-0-0 against Dayton this season.
Bloomington
Sunday's loss to the Mallards ended the PrairieThunder's three game winning streak...Bloomington allows a league high average of 3.5 goals per game... Craig MacDonald (32-32-64) and Jon Booras (18-44-62) rank third and fourth, respectively, in the league point scoring race. MacDonald ranks second in goals while Booras ranks second in assists...Zach Pearson (15-20-35) has scored seven goals and totaled ten points in his last eight games...Goaltender Sebastian Dahm (7-7-0-1, 3.79, .887) who joined the Thunder in January, has played in 15 of Bloomington's last 18 games...The PrairieThunder leads the league in penalty minutes (26.8 per game). Individually, Justin Sawyer leads the league in penalty minutes (232) while Robin Gomez (173) ranks fifth... Jarrod Skalde is in his second season behind the Bloomington bench. The former centerman wrapped up a 17-year professional playing career that saw him skate in 115 NHL games with the New Jersey Devils, Anaheim Mighty Ducks, Calgary Flames, San Jose Sharks, Dallas Stars, Chicago Blackhawks, Atlanta Thrashers and Philadelphia Flyers by suiting up for ten games with the PrairieThunder in 2007-08...The Mallards have gone 6-7-0-0 against Bloomington this season.
