Mallards Triumph 6-1 over the Beast

Brampton Beast News Release

Moline, IL - After a convincing 5-3 win over the Mallards last night, the Brampton Beast were unable to continue their offensive output on Sunday, falling to Quad City by a score of 6-1.

Kevin Baker and Joe Perry each scored three points for the Mallards, while Parker Milner made 28 saves to record his seventh win of the season. Jason Pitton scored the lone goal for Brampton, his team leading 9th of the season and 3rd on the man-advantage. Chad Painchaud recorded his 19th point and 15th assist on the play, both of which lead the Beast, while Steven Tarasuk added the other assist for his first point with his new team.

The Mallards went up by a score of 2-0 in the first period on goals by Baker and Pearce Eviston. Brampton looked to grab momentum late in the frame with a fight after the final busser as Mike MacIsaac and Justin Fox both dropped the gloves. The animosity certainly seemed to carryover into the second period, and initially it looked like the Beast would come out on top with Pitton's powerplay marker cutting the Mallards lead to 2-1. But despite several quality chances to tie the game shortly afterwards, the puck seemed to only bounce against the Beast from that point on.

The Mallards would rally to score three unanswered goals during the middle frame to increase their lead to 5-1, before adding a final tally in the third en route to the 6-1 victory. Grant Rollheiser made 16 saves in the loss, while his replacement Trevor Cann stopped 6 of the 7 shots he faced in 27:07 of ice time.

The Beast will be back in Quad City to avenge the loss on December 27th at 8:05 PM for the first of a two-game set against the Mallards. Afterwards, the Beast return home for Ugly Christmas Sweater Day on December 30, the first of a two-game set against the Toledo Walleye.
