Madison, WI - A five run fourth inning, highlighted by a two RBI double off the bat of right fielder Connor Marabell (Jacksonville) and a two RBI single from second baseman Robbie Tenerowicz (California), led the Madison Mallards (4-0, 22-15) past the Battle Creek Bombers (1-3, 17-22) in game two of the Mallards July 4th twin bill by a score of 7-1.
Mallards starter Rob McDonnell (Illinois) pitched five solid innings, giving up one run on two hits while striking out four to move to 4-1 on the year.
The Mallards scored twice in the second inning and led 2-1 going into the fourth before catcher Drew Carlile (Bradley) singled to drive in center fielder Alex Bacon (North Florida) from second. Tenerowicz then drove in two runs on a single and Marabell followed with his two run double.
Bombers starting pitcher Dakota Meekes (Michigan State) received the loss after he tossed 3.1 innings, giving up all seven runs on six hits.
In game one of the doubleheader, which was a re-start of the postponed game from June 19th against the Bombers, the Mallards scored two runs in the first inning and one in the fourth when Tenerowicz tripled and came in to score on first baseman Joe Dudek's (North Carolina) groundout.
