October 22, 2010 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Quad City Mallards News Release
MOLINE, Ill. (October 22, 2010) - The Quad City Mallards of the "AA" Central Hockey League today announced they have signed defenseman Adam Maccarone and placed him on injured reserve and have also placed center Mark Ehl on injured reserve.
Maccarone, 23, has gone on 10-day injured reserve as a result of a back injury. Maccarone split last season- his rookie year- between the International Hockey League's Port Huron Icehawks and Dayton Gems. The 6' 1", 210-pound, Whitby, Ontario, native scored four times and totaled 11 points in 55 games with the Icehawks and picked up five assists in 19 games with the Gems.
Maccarone got his first taste of pro hockey when he joined the CHL's Tulsa Oilers for six games- during which he notched two assists- at the end of the 2008-09 season. Before turning pro Maccarone spent three seasons at Wilfrid Laurier University, for whom he scored twice and registered 13 points in 56 career games. Mallards defenseman Tyler Townsend was a university teammate of Maccarone's for two seasons- 2007-08 and 2008-09.
Ehl, 24, was placed on 10-day injured reserve due to a thigh injury. The North Vancouver native made his Mallard debut in last Saturday's season opener against Odessa.
The Mallards return to action with three games in three nights this weekend. The Flock visits the Dayton Gems tonight at 6:30 p.m. and will travel to Evansville to take on the IceMen tomorrow evening at 7:30 p.m. before returning home for a rematch with Evansville Sunday afternoon at 4:05 p.m.
Sunday afternoon is the Mallards' first Family Day Presented by APAC Customer Services, Inc. and Mix 96. Family Day enables fans to purchase four tickets, four beverages and four hot dogs all for just $34. Fans attending next Sunday's game will also have the chance to join their favorite Mallards on the ice for a postgame skate. Sunday's game will be followed by three more Mallards Sunday Family Days- contests on November 21 against Dayton, December 12 against Fort Wayne and January 30 against Missouri. Family Day ticket packages can be purchased in person at the i wireless Center box office, at www.myqcmallards.com or by calling the Mallards at 309-277-1364.
Following Sunday's game, fans can join the Mallards at Van's Pizza, Pub & Grill in Davenport for a postgame party. The Mallards will head directly to Van's, which is located at 3333 N. Harrison Street in Davenport, immediately after Sunday's postgame skate. The event is open to all fans.
