Mallards Set to Renew Divisional Rivalries

Moline, IL-The Mallards begin divisional play this week as the team visits Rockford and Fort Wayne. Quad City is looking to rebound from a 9-2 defeat in Muskegon on Saturday. Second-year forward Jesse Rycroft scored both Mallards goals in the loss. The second week of the season provides the Mallards an opportunity to face off with the top two Western teams from the 2005-06 season.

The Mallards open their home schedule with a pair of contests vs. Western Division foes. Game time is 7:00 p.m. on both nights. For just $20, fans can purchase tickets to both games at The MARK box office. On Friday, the 2006-07 Mallards will skate on home ice for the first time following a pre-game laser and pyrotechnic display. The first 1,000 fans in attendance on Saturday night will receive a Mallards Flame Hat courtesy of Dick-n-Sons Lumber of Blue Grass, Iowa.

The Mallards get their hands on the Hogs on Friday for the first time during the new season. The Hayman's Ace Hardware Pre-Game Show will air on Fox Sports Radio AM 1230 beginning at 7:05 p.m. The game will also be available on-line at qcmallards.com. The team heads to Fort Wayne for a divisional showdown with their Indiana rivals on Saturday. Mallards in the Community

Mo Mallards will be appearing throughout the community in October to let fans know about the start of the 2006-07 home schedule. On Saturday, October 21st , Mo will be attending Noogie Fest at Gilda's Club of the Quad Cities from 11 a.m. until 1p.m.

Duck Talk on the Air

Duck Talk returns to Fox Sports Radio AM 1230 on Monday, October 16th at 6:00 p.m. from the Blackbear Lounge at The Lodge. This week, goaltender Jason Tapp, defenseman Jami Yoder and forward Drew Otten join host Aaron Roof and Mallards Head Coach Brian Curran.

Last Week's Games

Saturday, October 14th - Quad City 2 at Muskegon 9

The Muskegon Fury followed their opening night win over Bloomington with a 9-2 win over Quad City on Saturday at L.C. Walker Arena. Mallards forward Jesse Rycroft scored both Quad City goals in the third period. In the opening frame, the Fury jumped to a 5-0 lead on goals by Evan Kotsopoulos, Mike Watt, Rustyn Dolyny, David Noel-Bernier and Todd Robinson. In the second, the Fury extended their leads with Watt's second of the night and goals by Billy Collins, Scott Barnes and Elias Godoy. The Mallards controlled the final frame and outshot Muskeogn 17-8 in the game's final 20 minutes. Rycroft scored both Mallards goals including a power-play maker at 8:04 of the period. The Toronto native followed his first goal with an even strength tally at 11:43 of the period. Chad Woollard, who assisted on both goals, hit the Muskegon crossbar before Rycroft shoveled the rebound past Muskegon's Ryan Cyr.

Player of the Week

Jesse Rycroft is the Mallards nominee for UHL Player of the Week. The second-year forward netted both goals in the Mallards only game of the week.

Goalie of the Week

Scott Gary is the Mallards nominee for UHL Goaltender of the Week. He stopped 29 of the 33 shots he faced in relief of Jason Tapp on Saturday in Muskegon.
