MUSKEGON, MI.--- The first-place, undefeated Muskegon Fury, in conjunction with the United Hockey League, have announced on this date that first-year center ELIAS GODOY has been honored as the first Sher-wood / UHL Player of the Week for the week of October 9th through October 15th.

GODOY (gah-DOY), 25, is in his first pro season, having been obtained by the Fury following his attendance at the AHL Grand Rapids Griffins training camp in late September. The 5-11, 180lb swift centerman enjoyed a most auspicious pro premiere in spearheading his team's potent, perfect inaugural weekend of the 2006-07 campaign.

In his actual professional debut on opening night Friday night, he was hailed the Fury "Star of the Game" when he dazzled to the tune of 2-goals, 1-assist, including 1-PPG and 1-UG in Muskegon's convincing 7-3 conquest of the newly-minted Bloomington Prairie Thunder.

The very next night was an enterprising encore for the native of West Vancouver, British Columbia as he authored yet another 3-points' masterpiece on 1-goal, 2-assists and 3-SOG in the Fury's 9-2 dismissal of archrival Quad City. For the weekend, he engineered 6-points on 3-goals, 3-assists with a +2 rating.

On the strength of his extraordinary pro premiere, Godoy has soared to the top of the UHL individual scoring race while his 3-goals rank tied for circuit second and his 3-assists rank fifth best in that category.

A four-year standout in the Hockey East Conference at U. Mass-Lowell, Godoy captured the River Hawks scoring crown in 2003-04 with 40(18-23-41) and finished runner-up in team scoring one year later with 2004-05 totals of 34(12-27-39). His four-year collegiate totals were 133(42-79-121) with 164-PIM.

At the conclusion of his senior year last season, Godoy saw some brief, late season action with the Victoria Salmon Kings of the ECHL where in 9-games he registered 5-points on 2-goals, 3-assists.
