Moline, IL- The Quad City Mallards announced today that the team's road games on January 27th in Muskegon and February 25th in Rockford will be aired live on Mediacom Connections Channel 22. The games will be available to Mediacom subscribers throughout the state of Iowa.
The game on January 27th will feature a re-match of last year's playoff series between the Mallards and Fury. Mallards broadcaster Aaron Roof will be joined during the game by Mallards Senior Vice President Tim Taylor, who will serve as color commentator.
On February 25th, the Mallards rivalry vs. Rockford will move to the TV airwaves. The bitter rivals will be playing for the second time in four days and the fourth time in three weeks.
"We are very excited about the opportunity for our fans to watch their team play on the road," said Roof. "Mediacom has been a fantastic partner for us. We look forward to bringing these exciting games to our fans."
During the televised games, the Mallards will be hosting viewing parties throughout the Quad Cities. On January 27th, the Mallards All-Time Leading Scorer, Hugo Proulx, will be at Cat's Bar & Grill in Geneseo, Illinois during the game. Proulx will be on hand to watch the game with fans while promoting a fundraiser for Geneseo resident Carter Yackley. Carter was born with a life threatening heart condition and the Mallards are working to raise money for his medical care through ticket sales. Tickets to the February 11th game vs. Roanoke that are purchased via Carter's fundraiser will benefit medical care for the youngster. To purchase ticket to benefit Carter, call Meg at (563) 650-0583. Mallards legend Mark McFarlane will be at Packy's Bar & Grill in Moline during the game. He will be serving as a guest bartender while watching the game with fans.
The Mallards will be shooting for the 500th win in team history on Friday night at The MARK. The Mallards will be facing a Flint Generals team that entered play this week with 498 victories and a game on Wednesday night before Friday's showdown at The MARK. The first of the two to reach 500 will join Muskegon and Rockford/Thunder Bay as the only teams in UHL history to win 500 games. Game time on Friday is 7:00 p.m. Jumer's Casino Rock Island will be giving away equipment carrier bags.
