Trashers Dump Vipers Lead

ROANOKE, VA - The Roanoke Valley Vipers, member of the United Hockey League (UHL), dropped their third straight, falling by a final score of 7-4 to the Danbury Trashers at the Roanoke Civic Center Wednesday night.

Drew Omicioli got the Trashers on the board first, scoring at 3:16 of the first period. The Vipers quickly retaliated, scoring two to gain the lead in the game at the 3:58 and 5:25 marks of the period. Vipers captain David Beauregard tied the game as he beat Sly Daigle with an assist from Alex Jerofejevs. Mike Wiggins continued his scoring tear, scoring in his fourth straight game with an assist from Matt Miller to give the Vipers their only advantage of the contest.

The Trashers proceeded to score three straight goals, two coming before the end of the first period of play. Frederic Belanger, Danny Stewart, and Alex Goupil all scored in the rally. Mike Wiggins added his second of the night at 12:35 of the second period off an assist from Jonathan Charette. Danbury would then score three more on Regan Kelly, Drew Omicioli, and Dave MacIsaac goals. Shawn Conschafter was replaced in net two and a half minutes into the third period by Trevor Cunning who made his debut as a Viper. Cunning faced five Trashers shots and let in one goal from MacIsaac. L.P. Martin scored on the power play at 15:28 of the third, but it was not enough to regain the lead, as the Vipers fell 7-4.
