Mallards Fall in Fort Wayne

FORT WAYNE, Ind. - Colin Chaulk scored two goals and added an assist as the host Fort Wayne Komets defeated the Quad City Mallards 4-1 Friday night. With the loss, the Mallards, who are in fifth place in the Central Hockey League's Turner Conference, fell to 25-19-1 (51 points).

Chaulk produced the first of four straight Komet goals by burying a Chris Auger feed from the doorstep midway through the first period.

At 9:23 of the second period, Brett Smith scored shorthanded on a clean breakaway to double the Fort Wayne lead.

The gap widened to four when the Komets scored twice in 31 seconds late in the second. Jamie Milam one-timed a power play goal home from the high slot at 18:25; at 18:56, Chaulk jammed in his second goal of the night from the doorstep.

The Mallards were up 5-on-3 when John Snowden scored the lone Quad City goal from the left wing circle at 4:25 of the third period.

The Mallards return to action on home ice tomorrow evening at 7:05 p.m. against the Arizona Sundogs. Tomorrow evening is Genesis Heart Night- the Mallards will wear special limited edition Genesis Heart Night jerseys during their match-up with the Sundogs. Those jerseys will go up for bid in a live auction immediately following the game with proceeds going to the Genesis Foundation to benefit cardiac care at the Genesis Heart Institute.

The box office is open weekdays from 10:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., on Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and on game days from 10:00 a.m. until the start of the second period. Individual game tickets are available for $12 in the upper level and $17 in the lower level and $25 for the first row along the glass for adults. Tickets for kids 12 and under are available for $5 off adult rates. In addition, tickets are available to military personnel for $2 off the regular adult rate.
