Mallards Announce 2006-07 Schedule

Moline, IL-The Quad City Mallards today announced the schedule for the team's 12th season in the United Hockey League. The team opens the schedule on Saturday, October 14th in Muskegon and closes the campaign on Saturday, April 7th in Muskegon.

After opening the season on a five-game road trip, the 2006-07 Mallards make their home debut on November 3rd vs. Fort Wayne. The Komets will be the most frequent visitor to The MARK in the coming season as Fort Wayne plays in the Quad Cities six times. The Western Division foes will also meet five times in Fort Wayne.

Quad City is slated to play 44 of their 76 games vs. Western Division teams. The 2006-07 Western Division will be composed of Quad City, Fort Wayne and Rockford along with newcomers Bloomington and Chicago. With the addition of two new intrastate teams, the Mallards will play 56 of their 76 games in the state of Illinois.

The Mallards closest intrastate foe, the Rockford IceHogs, come to The MARK for the first time on Saturday, November 4th. The Mallards and Hogs continue one of the UHL's most fierce rivalries with 12 meetings (five at The MARK and seven in Rockford) during the 2006-07 season.

The Mallards play the Chicago Hounds for the first time ever on Friday, November 10th in Chicago. The Hounds are at The MARK for the first time one week later on Friday, November 17th. The Mallards will face the Hounds ten times (five at home and five on the road) during the 2006-07 season. The Mallards are in Bloomington to face the Prairie Thunder for the first time on Thursday, October 26th. The Prairie Thunder visit The MARK for the first time on Saturday, December 2nd. The Mallards play the Prairie Thunder eleven times (five at The MARK and six in Bloomington) during the 2006-07 season.

The Mallards play 32 games (17 at home and 15 on the road) vs. the new Eastern Division. Elmira, Flint, Kalamazoo, Muskegon and Port Huron will comprise the eastern half of the UHL in 2006-07. Flint, Muskegon and Port Huron each appear seven times on the Mallards schedule. In addition to opening and closing the season vs. Muskegon, the Mallards also host the Fury in a special New Year's Eve Showdown at The MARK on Sunday, December 31st. The Mallards play the defending Colonial Cup Champion Kalamazoo Wings for the first of six times on Friday, November 24th in Kalamazoo. The Wings are at The MARK for the first of three visits on Friday, January 5th. Elmira appears on the Mallards schedule just five times including three meetings away from The MARK.
