K-Wings ready to defend the cup

Kalamazoo, MI. - The Kalamazoo Wings, proud member of the United Hockey League and 2005-06 Central Division, Tarry Cup and Colonial Cup Champions, announce their schedule for the upcoming 2006-2007 season.

The K-Wings regular season will run from October 13th-April 7th. All 10 of the member teams in the UHL will play 76 games (38 home, 38 away).

Kalamazoo will start their 26-week season on Friday, October 13th when they head out east to play the first of two straight games against the Elmira Jackals.

The Kalamazoo Wings will open up the home portion of their schedule on Saturday, October 21st versus the Flint Generals. The K-Wings will raise their championship banners and unveil their Colonial Cup Rings during a ceremony prior to face-off against the Generals.

The following Saturday, October 28th the K-Wings face the division rival Muskegon Fury during the 3rd Annual "Orange Ice Game". Fans are encouraged to dress in costumes and participate in Halloween festivities.

Other game highlights include Sunday, December 31st when the K-Wings host the Flint Generals with the New Year's Eve Bash to follow and Wednesday, February 14th against the Elmira Jackals for the Seventh Annual "Pink Ice Game". One of the most historic traditions in hockey will continue on Saturday, March 17th, when the Port Huron Flags visit Wings Stadium for the 26th Annual World Famous Fifth-Third Bank "Green Ice Game".

This season, the K-Wings will be competing in the Eastern Conference, which will feature the Elmira Jackals, Flint Generals, Muskegon Fury and Port Huron Flags. The K-Wings will play 43 divisional games, which includes 21 home games.

The three teams the K-Wings battle the most this year are the Port Huron Flags (13 games), Muskegon Fury (12 games) and Fort Wayne Komets (10 games). The K-Wings heated rivalry against the Fury could reach new heights starting on March 2nd when the teams play the first of four consecutive games against each other.

The K-Wings will also continue their traditional Kids Games, with the playing of both the Kalamazoo Public Schools and Education Day Games. The K-Wings Kids Days will be played Wednesday, February 21st versus Rockford and Wednesday, February 28th against Chicago.

Game times this year at Wings Stadium are as follows:

Monday-Thursday Games: 7:00 p.m.

Friday and Saturday Games: 7:30 p.m.

Sunday Games: 4:00 p.m. (except for New Year's Eve, which is 7:30 p.m.)
