
Bloomington Prairie Thunder hockey releases schedule

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. - The United Hockey League (UHL) released its schedule for the 2006-07 regular season on Wednesday. The 16th season of the UHL opens on Friday, October 13th, 2006 and concludes on Saturday, April 7th, 2007.
The inaugural season for the Bloomington PrairieThunder kicks off on Friday, October 13th when it travels to Muskegon, Mich., to take on the Fury. The team's home opener is slated for Saturday, October 14th against Fort Wayne. Start times for the games will be decided at a later date.
"October 14th promises to be a special day as a new era is introduced on the Bloomington sports scene," said PrairieThunder General Manager Jerry McBurney. "We are looking forward to sharing the excitement of professional hockey with the community. We are very happy that 28 of our 38 home games fall on weekends. This should make it much easier for our fans to attend games at the U.S. Cellular Coliseum."
The PrairieThunder schedule features a total of 14 home Saturday games and nine Friday home games. Five home game are scheduled for a Sunday, while the remainder fall during the week on a Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday.
Ten UHL Member Clubs will compete in two conferences for the 2006-07 season. The Eastern Conference will consist of the Elmira Jackals, Flint Generals, Kalamazoo Wings, Muskegon Fury and Port Huron Flags. The Western Conference will feature the Bloomington PrairieThunder, Chicago Hounds, Fort Wayne Komets, Quad City Mallards and Rockford IceHogs.
The full league schedule consists of 380 games with each team playing a total of 76 games (38 home, 38 road). Each of the ten UHL Member Clubs will hit the ice during the first weekend of play.
