Mississauga St. Michael's Majors News Release

OSHAWA, ON — The Toronto St. Michael's Majors watched three different leads vanish this evening in Oshawa and were defeated 4-3 in overtime by the Generals. The silver lining this evening is that the Barrie Colts played to a 1-1 draw in Sudbury. Therefore, the Majors and Colts both move up to 53 points and Toronto stays ahead of Barrie in the standings due to the fact that they've played one less game.

After a scoreless 1st period, Colin Power got the Majors on the board at 5:59 of the 2nd frame with assists going to Chris Cunningham and Scott Lehman. However, the Generals tied things up early in the 3rd period when Chris Hulit connected on the power-play at 2:10; helpers were credited to Adam Berti and Chris Petrow. The Majors regained the lead at 7:54 when Tim Brent notched his 16th goal of the season off a feed from Cory Vitarelli.

The Generals came right back once again as Brandon McBride struck at 9:55 with assists going to Bret Nasby and Tyler Donati. Yet, the Majors quickly jumped ahead once again as Darryl Boyce countered 43 seconds later off a feed from Ryan Rorabeck. However, with less than three minutes to play, Berti struck off a Donati pass. Then, in overtime, Petrow scored for the Generals with about two minutes to play.

Justin Peters got the start once again for the Majors and made 28 saves while Dan Turple turned aside 36 for the home squad. The game's three stars were Berti (1st), Donati (2nd) and Lehman (3rd).

The Majors will travel to Owen Sound to face off against the Attack tomorrow evening, Saturday, January 24th at 7:30 pm. This contest will be available in the Toronto region on Rogers television (channel 10). Their next home game will be Saturday, February 7th at 2:00 pm when the Plymouth Whalers visit the St. Michael's College School Arena.
