Bakersfield Jam News Release
BAKERSFIELD, CA - Renaldo Major had a game-high 22 points in a 120-103 loss to the visiting Rio Grande Valley Vipers (6-6) Saturday night. Major now has 3,804 total points scored in his NBA D-League career, which ties him with Blake Ahearn for most points in NBA D-League history.
The Bakersfield Jam struggled from the floor early in the game, causing them to fall behind by double digits at the end of the first quarter (37-26). The Jam trailed by as many as 15 points in the first half and closed the first half shooting just 39.1% from the field, compared to the Vipers 51%. Down by 11 entering the third period (58-49), Bakersfield went on a 7-0 run in the quarter and erased a double digit deficit to just four points (78-74). But that would be the closest the Jam got all night. Bakersfield never led in the game and dropped to 8-6 on the season.
Damion James posted 16 points, seven rebounds and three steals. Jerel McNeal also scored 16 points while dishing out six assists. James Nunnally led the bench with 13 points and four rebounds.
The Rio Grande Valley Vipers were led by Tim Ohlbrecht with 20 points and six rebounds. Tajuan Porter recorded a double-double off the bench with 19 points and a game-high 11 assists. Kyle Fogg also scored 19 points and Chris Johnson had 17 points. Houston Rockets assignee Terrence Jones finished with a double-double of 12 points and 18 rebounds.
Both teams go back at it tomorrow Sunday, December 30 at 4pm PT at the Dignity Health Event Center.
