Charge Complete Weekend Sweep of 66ers

The Canton Charge used a strong defensive second half to beat the Tulsa 66ers for the second time in as many nights, 89-90. The win put Canton back at .500 with an 8-8 record, while Tulsa dropped to 8-5. The Charge will finish season series between the two teams with the 2-1 edge.

It was a tale of two halves, as the 66ers were 19-of-37 from the floor for 51% and held a 48-43 lead in the first half. The Charge defense locked down Tulsa for 12-of-36 attempts for 33% and outscored them 46-32 in the second half. Canton outrebounded the visitors 42-28 in the game, an opponent season low.

Arinze Onuaku totaled his 10th double-double of the year with 15 points on 7-of-10 shooting, 12 rebounds and two steals in 30 minutes. Samardo Samuels had his second-straight 20 & 10 game with 20 points, 11 rebounds and two blocks in 39 minutes. Antoine Agudio poured in 19 points on 6-of-10 shooting, including 3-of-6 from beyond the arc, with five rebounds, five assists and a steal in 39 minutes. Jorge Gutierrez added 13 points with four rebounds, four assists and two steals in 34 minutes. Jorge came into tonight fifth in the D-League in steals, averaging 2.1 a night.

Chris Quinn led Tulsa with 17 points, seven assists and two steals in 37 minutes. Perry Jones scored 16 points with three rebounds and two steals in 33 minutes. Rodney Bartholomew came off the bench to add 14 points on 7-of-8 shooting with six rebounds in 21 minutes. The 66ers were defeated despite just 11 turnovers for six points, as Canton surrendered the ball 23 times resulting in 28 points.

The Charge will next head to Springfield for a matchup with the East Division rival Armor on Thursday, January 3rd at 7:00 p.m.
