A three-run bottom of the third got the Moose up and running after falling down 1-to-0 in the top half, the Schooners cut that lead to 3-to-2 in the top of the 4th against eventual winning pitcher Christian Lavoie (2-1). The Mainers added 2 more in the bottom of the 6th and the bullpen was called on to earn their way out of it.
Nick Poore worked his way through 2 innings allowing 2 earned runs while issuing 4 free passes and striking out 3 moving his ERA to 2.04 on the season, but the pitching did enough with Jonathan Chudy earning his way out of dangerous situation in the 8th inning to get the ball to Cam Hatch.
The Mainers bats were led by Caden Bailey and his 2-for-4 night with 2 RBI's and Walker Pennington who finished 2-for-3 with a run scored and 1 RBI. Drake Parker also punched his only hit in 2 at-bats driving in a run, along with Cory Raley finishing 1-for-3 with one RBI as well. 5 runs would be all that was needed for the Mainers pitching staff that sports a stellar ERA of 2.56 and has allowed just 5 runs in 32 innings pitched over the last 7 days while recording 33 strikeouts as a staff and holding opponents to just a .246 batting average and a miniscule earned-run-average of 1.13, Cam Hatch punches out 2 of the final 3 batters by way of the strikeout to shut the door on a 5-4 win! The Mainers move to 16-and-8 on the season with the 8th win in a row and have tomorrow (7/10) off, but will get back at it on Friday at Goodall Park against the Keene Swamp Bats (11-11) with Ben Wessel (0-1) on the mound, and finish out this week at home against the Plymouth Pilgrims (18-6) on Saturday!
