
Mainers Clinch Series With Shutout

Lynn, MA - The Sanford Mainers came away with a series-clinching victory on Friday in Lynn Mass., defeating the North Shore Navigators 7-0 to advance to the NECBL's Eastern Division Finals. The will take on the Laconia Muskrats in the division finals.ÃÂ
Sanford got on the board early, scoring in the second. Jack Lupo singled and Pat Devlin drew a walk. A wild pitch moved both runners up 90 feet, putting them both in scoring position. Paul Kronenfeld singled to center to score them both and make it 2-0 Mainers.
The Mainers extended their lead in the third. Marlon Calbi singled to start the inning and came around to score on a Brett Mollenhauer double that was just fair down the right field line to make it 3-0 Sanford.
In the fifth inning Sanford scored again. Mollenhauer singled to left and scored on a Justin Leisenheimer double. Lupo came through with a two-out single later in the inning to score Leisenheimer and make it 5-0 Mainers.
The hit parade continued in the sixth. Panetta and Ryan Coppinger drew walks before Mollenhauer came up with two outs in the inning. With two strikes on him Mollenhauer hit a blooper down the line in left that went for a double to score both runners ahead of him and make it 7-0 Sanford.
The Mainers would hold on for the 7-0 win.
