
Mahar Lifts IronPigs To 2-1 Victory Over Indians

BRADENTON, Fla. -- Former Indiana University star and current Philadelphia Phillies farmhand Kevin Mahar drove in the eventual game-winning run with a two-out single in the eighth inning to lead the Lehigh Valley IronPigs to a 2-1 win over the Indianapolis Indians on Tuesday, March 23 at Pirate City in Bradenton, Fla.
The Indians struck first with a home run by 1B Miles Durham to leadoff of the second inning and give the Tribe a 1-0 lead. Lehigh Valley tied the contest at 1-1 in the fifth inning with a solo home run of their own off the bat of 3B Pat Sellers. Mahar then singled home LF Mike Spidale, who started the two-out eighth-inning rally with a single and stolen base. DH Bobby Crosby batted second for the Indians and collected two hits in six at-bats.
Ironpigs reliever Jason Anderson (3.0 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 2 SO) earned the win with three scoreless innings of work while starter Brian Mazone (4.0 IP, 3 H, 1 R, 0 BB, 2 SO) allowed one run in four frames. D.J. Carrasco (2.0 IP, 1 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 3 SO) started the contest for the Indians while LHP Corey Hamman (1 IP, 2 H, 1 R, 0 BB, 1 SO) was pinned with the loss after allowing the go-ahead run in the eighth.
