
Magrane Leads Patriots To 2-0 Shutout Over Riversharks

CAMDEN , NJ- The Somerset Patriots shutout the Camden Riversharks 2-0 in a seven inning rain shortened game at Campbell 's Field on Saturday evening.
The Patriots broke a scoreless tie with a run in the top of the fifth inning to take a 1-0 lead when third baseman Jeff Nettles ripped a one out double off the left field wall and scored on a two out RBI single to right by first baseman Joe Burke.
Somerset added a run in the top of the seventh inning to extend their lead to 2-0 when designated hitter Josh Pressley lined a lead off single to center and after a one out walk by Nettles, scored on a RBI double to right center by catcher Travis Anderson.
Patriots' starter Jim Magrane (7-0) picked up the complete game win, throwing seven scoreless innings, allowing four hits while striking out two and walking two. Riversharks' starter Ryan DiPietro (0-2) suffered the loss, allowing one run on two hits while walking one and striking out five in five innings pitched.
With the win the Patriots won their fourth straight to improve to 32-16 on the 2009 season while the Riversharks dropped to 23-25.
The 2009 Somerset Patriots Season presented by Ford will continue on the road until Monday, June 15th when the Patriots return to TD Bank Ballpark for a 7:05 pm game against the Long Island Ducks.
