Maestri Rejoins Tennessee Wednesday

SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. - The Tennessee Smokies, Class AA minor league affiliate of the Chicago Cubs, announce that RHP Alex Maestri has returned to Tennessee from Triple-A Iowa today. No corresponding roster move has been made and Maestri will be available for tonight's Smokies game with the Mobile BayBears.

Maestri returns to the Smokies after going 3-1 with a 3.30 ERA in relief for the team in 2009. He's allowed 24 runs (23 earned) on 52 hits in 62.2 innings of work, striking out 54 and walking 36. The Italy native spent the most of the 2008 season with the Daytona Cubs (High-A) before joining Tennessee, and was signed as a non-drafted free agent by the Chicago Cubs in 2006.
