Maduro Catches On With Cutters

New Haven County Cutters News Release


West Haven- The New Haven County Cutters announced today the signing of catcher Jorge Maduro. Maduro played last season at A Burlington (IA) and AA Wichita (KS), in the Kansas City Royals organization.

Jorge, a former 12th round selection of the Tampa Bay Devil Rays in 1999, he caught in the Devil Rays organization through the 2002 season. After parting ways with Tampa Bay, Maduro signed on with the Seattle Mariners reaching as high as AAA Tacoma (WA) in 2003 and 2004.

"This signing should give us a very solid catcher. Jorge has been considered a major league prospect. He has been as high as Triple-A, and needed a fresh opportunity to play regularly. He should get that chance with the Cutters. We expect him to give us good on-field leadership" stated Bob Wirz Director of Player Procurement.

The Cutters kick off the 2006 season on May 25th as they travel to take on the Brockton Rox. The Cutters will play their home opener on May 29th against 2005 Champion, Worcester Tornadoes.
