Four New Pitchers Sign with Pride

(Nashua, NH, March 17, 2006) - Nashua Pride team officials announced today that David Lipson, Luis Valdez, David Marchbanks and Nicholas Slack have all signed contracts for this upcoming season.

Former Pride pitcher, Lipson, played in 6 games for Nashua in 2005. He will be playing in his second season as a professional baseball player and has experience in the Can-Am League with the Quebec Les Capitales. The right-hander also played for the Lancaster Barnstormers in the Atlantic League last season.

Valdez was picked up as a nondrafted free agent by the Pittsburgh Pirates in 2001. The Dominican Republic native pitched in over 61 innings for the Pirates Gulf Coast League team and posted a 2.79 earned run average with a 7-2 record in 2004. Last year, the right-hander started 7 games with a 4.53 earned run average for the Pirates Class-A affiliate Williamsport Crosscutters of the New York-Penn League.

The Florida Marlins selected Marchbanks in the 7th round of the 2003 draft. To start off his career, the Spartanburg, SC native pitched for the Marlins Class-A affiliate Jamestown Jammers of the New York-Penn League to start off his career. In 2004, the lefty started nine games for the Marlins Gulf Coast League squad and posted a 4.20 earned run average. Last season, he pitched for the Mid-Missouri Mavericks of the Frontier League.

Slack was picked by the Milwaukee Brewers in the 20th round of the 2003 draft. The Middletown, CT native pitched for the Brewers Frontier League team in Helena, Montana and produced a 2.19 earned run average in 2003. Last year, the right-handed reliever pitched for the Brewers Class-A affiliate Brevard County Manatees in the Florida State League.

The Nashua Pride, entering their first year of play in the Canadian American Association of Professional Baseball, play their home games at Historic Holman Stadium. Prior to joining the Can-Am League, the Pride played for eight seasons in the Atlantic League of Professional Baseball, winning the 2000 Atlantic League championship.
