
Madero Miserly, Marsh Mashes as Inland Empire Musters Series Win

San Bernardino, CA - The Inland Empire 66ers of San Bernardino got a strong pitching performance from Luis Madero (2-0) and a three-run homer from Brandon Marsh in a 6-1 win over Visalia on Thursday at San Manuel Stadium. The victory gave the Sixers (52-53, 19-16) the series two-games-to-one and gave them their third consecutive series, two of those being versus Visalia (51-54, 14-21).
The 66ers got a run in the first when Brandon Marsh doubled to left and then scored on Franklin Torres RBI double to right against Rawhide righty Jeff Bain (0-1). The Cal Poly Pomona product was making his Cal League debut and held the Sixers down until the fifth when Richie Fecteau singled, Jo Adell was hit by a pitch and Marsh launched a soaring homer over the wall in right for his fourth homer with Inland Empire and a 4-0 advantage. Marsh finished 2-for-4 with six total bases, two runs scored and three RBI. Meanwhile Luis Madero (2-0) was rolling for the Sixers on the hill as the righty from Maracay, VZ went 5.2 IP and gave up just two hits, three walks and struck out six. He has fanned 14 batters in his last 9.2 IP. Inland Empire added a run in the sixth on Fecteau's RBI single, his second hit of the night and a capper in the eighth when Jonah Todd doubled and eventually scored on Julian Leon's sac fly. Stephen Smith hit a sol shot in the eighth for the Rawhide, his fifth of the season.
