Windsor Spitfires News Release

Spitfire defenceman Michael MacIntyre and Andrew Clouthier visited Essex Public School and Jack Miner Public School in Kingsville earlier today as part of the second annual Lifestyle Family Fitness and Spitfires Fun Mornings Program. Fitness instructors Jason Miner and Christina Barracco along with Spitfires Public Relations Coordinator Rob Gagnon and Spitfires intern Felicia Krautner were also present and directed two grade six classes at Essex Public, and a grade seven and eight class at Jack Miner School.

The players and attending staff spoke to students about the importance of exercise and healthy living while also directing them in a series of exercises to conclude each visit. Each student today also received a certificate for their participation in the program.

Windsor Spitfire players and Lifestyle Family Fitness instructors will be visiting a total of 14 elementary schools within Windsor and Essex County during the 2010-2011 season as part of this program. Last season, the Spitfires and Lifestyle Family Fitness launched this initiative and visited six local schools before adding several more stops to this year's program.

"Today's visits to Essex Public and Jack Miner Schools were a great way to start the second edition of this unique fitness program. Having Michael and Andrew present from our team to promote fitness was invaluable and really helped the staff from Lifestyle Family Fitness demonstrate how important physical conditioning and healthy living is in everyday life. We're looking forward to our next set of visits already and would like to thank both of today's schools for their attention and participation," said Rob Gagnon, Public Relations Coordinator of the Windsor Spitfires.
