Oshawa Generals News Release
Oshawa, ON - November 17th, 2010 - The Hockey Development Centre of Ontario announced today that Generals rookie centre Scott Laughton has been named to Ontario's World Under-17 Hockey Challenge roster.
The 2011 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge will take place in Winnipeg, Manitoba between December 29th and January 4th.
"This is a great accomplishment for Scott. Any time you are given the opportunity to represent your home province it's special," said Generals Head Coach and General Manager Chris DePiero. "Scott has been off to a great start to his junior career and being named to Team Ontario is well deserved."
Laughton was the Generals first round pick, 3rd overall this past May and has 8 goals and 5 assists for 13 points in 20 games so far this season. He is currently third in scoring among all 1994 born OHL rookies.
Last year, at the 2010 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge, Generals Boone Jenner and Lucas Lessio helped Team Ontario to a silver medal in Timmins, Ontario.
