Salisbury, Md. - Jacob Pettit kept the Charleston RiverDogs (10-14) off balance all game long and Manny Machado hit his fifth home run in the last seven games to lift the Delmarva Shorebirds (15-9) to a 2-0 win at Arthur W. Perdue Stadium on Sunday afternoon. The Shorebirds extend their winning streak to ten games, the longest streak since at least the 2003 season. It was also the first shutout win of the season for Delmarva.

The lone runs of the game were scored in the third inning. Jonathan Schoop hit a one out infield single to the left side. Then, Machado belted a 3-1 pitch over the left field wall to lift the Shorebirds to a 2-0 lead.

Shorebirds starter Jacob Pettit did the rest over eight innings. He is the first Shorebirds starter to pitch through the eighth inning this season. Pettit also fanned a season high eight batters.

David Walters entered in the ninth inning and picked up his league leading eighth save of the season.

The Shorebirds and RiverDogs are back in action on Monday night at 7:05 p.m. RHP Scott Copeland is the scheduled starter for Delmarva.
