FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - Dom Macaluso threw a complete-game two-hitter and the Fayetteville SwampDogs earned a split of their doubleheader with the Wilmington Sharks with a 6-0 win the second game. Wilmington claimed the first game 6-3.

Macaluso (3-2) allowed a one-out single in the first and a two-out single in the seventh, retiring all 19 batters in between. He did not walk anyone and struck out six Sharks en route to the victory.

Fayetteville (24-13, 7-2) maintained their one-game lead in the CPL South second half standings over Wilmington (18-17, 5-2). The two teams meet again tomorrow night in Wilmington, with first pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m.

Jay Cannon smacked two doubles, scored a run, and drove in two, while Cody Davis added an RBI triple and a sacrifice fly for the SwampDogs. John Hogan went 2-for-3 with a double, walk, and run scored.

Eric Grabe singled in the first inning, hit number 156 of his CPL career. He is now two shy of tying Will Skinner's all-time mark of 158, but also now one shy of Konstantine Diamaduros, who also had one hit tonight for Forest City and sits at 157 hits all-time.

Stephen Vaughan (2-1) started for the Sharks, the fourth time this season he has faced the SwampDogs. He allowed four runs on four hits and three walks, suffering his first loss of the year.

The SwampDogs will be on the road for the rest of the week before returning home Saturday for their Fifth Annual StriKing Out Cancer Night to support the Cape Fear Valley Health Foundation's Friend of the Cancer Center. The SwampDogs will be wearing their pink jerseys against the Wilmington Sharks, which they will then auction off after the game. Gates open at 6 p.m., with first pitch set for 7:05 p.m. at J.P. Riddle Stadium.
