
M-Braves Fall to Pensacola on Thursday Night

PEARL, MS - The Mississippi Braves (41-50, 8-15) fell 4-1 to the Pensacola Blue Wahoos (56-36, 15-9) on Thursday night at Trustmark Park. The Blue Wahoos pitching staff combined to allow one unearned run on three hits.
Pensacola scored in the second inning and did not relinquish the lead for the rest of the game. The Blue Wahoos took their third straight win in the series. The M-Braves have lost eight of the last nine games.
Alan Rangel pitched 5 1/3 innings, allowing three runs on six hits. The right-hander racked up five strikeouts and walked two in his 12th start of at least five innings. Rangel has a 5.91 ERA in 17 starts this season.
Pensacola broke through for three runs in the sixth, including a two-run homer from Griffin Conine.
Luis Palacios did not allow a hit in 5 2/3 innings, surrendering just one baserunner on a hit by pitch. The M-Braves finally broke through when Cody Milligan laced a triple to deep center field. Milligan slid into third base, and the throw to the bag bounced into the M-Braves dugout. The error allowed Milligan to score and make it 4-1. Palacios finished with a career-high 11 strikeouts in seven innings and allowed no earned runs.
The Pensacola bullpen retired six of seven M-Braves hitters in the final two innings. Luke Waddell picked up a hit in the ninth inning and has hit in 11 of the last 13 games.
The fourth game of the series is on Friday night at Trustmark Park. RHP Nolan Kingham (0-0, --) will make the start Mississippi while LHP Jonathan Bermudez (2-2, 4.84) will start for Pensacola. The first pitch is at 6:35 pm CT, with coverage starting 15 minutes before on 102.1 The Box, MiLB First Pitch App, and Bally Live.
