Mississippi Braves News Release
PEARL, MS - Sunday's game between the Mississippi Braves and Tennessee Smokies was suspended by rain with the M-Braves leading the Smokies 2-0 in the bottom of the second inning.
The game will resume on Monday at 4:05 pm and continue through nine innings with a seven-inning game to follow, 30 minutes after the conclusion of the suspended contest. Gates will open at 3:30 pm. Fans with tickets to Sunday's game may exchange them for any future 2019 regular-season home game at Trustmark Park. Monday is the final day of the homestand with both clubs traveling after the games.
The M-Braves struck for two runs in the bottom of the first inning against Tennessee starter Jake Stinnett. Ray-Patrick Didder led off with a single and Daniel Lockhart drew a walk to place two on base with nobody out. Trey Harris hit a single past the shift of the right side of the infield to bring home the first run. Two batters later, Greyson Jenista beat the shift on the opposite side to bring home Lockhart and lead 2-0.
Phil Pfeifer made his first M-Braves start after an impressive July for the Florida FireFrogs. The 27-year-old southpaw was dominant in retiring all six Smokies faced through 2.0 perfect innings, striking out four and usiting just 24 pitches.
Pfeifer sacrificed Alejandro Salazar to second base in the bottom of the second inning when the rain hit Trustmark Park at 5:35 pm on Sunday. After just over an hour the game was officially suspended.
The pitching matchups for Monday's games have not been announced. Resumption of the suspended game is set for 4:05 pm with coverage starting at 4:00 pm on 103.9 WYAB, TuneIn Radio, MiLB First Pitch app, and MiLB.tv (subscription required).
