
Lynx Waive Japreece Dean

MINNEAPOLIS/ST. PAUL - Minnesota Lynx Head Coach and General Manager Cheryl Reeve today announced that the team has waived guard Japreece Dean.
Dean, a 5-7 guard, played in the Lynx preseason scrimmage on May 1st at Atlanta tallying two points, two rebounds, four assists and two steals in 15 minutes of action.
Prior to being signed by the Lynx, Dean played three seasons at UCLA averaging 12.1 points, 3.0 rebounds and 4.3 assists per game in 90 games (64 starts). In her final season for the Bruins, she averaged 13.6 points, 5.5 assists and 3.7 rebounds in 29 games (all starts). The 5.5 steals ranked her second in the Pac-12 for steals per game behind former Oregon guard Sabrina Ionescu. Dean was originally drafted by the Chicago Sky in the third round (30th overall) in the 2020 WNBA Draft. She has spent the past year overseas, playing in 20 games for Dynamo Novosibirsk in Russia, averaging 12.0 points, 2.7 rebounds and 2.7 assists in 20.7 minutes per game.
The Lynx will tip-off their 23rd WNBA season, presented by Mayo Clinic, on May 14 vs. Phoenix at 8:00 p.m. CT. The 2021 season includes 32 regular season games from May 14 through Sept. 19.
