Minnesota Lynx News Release
MINNEAPOLIS/ST. PAUL - The Minnesota Lynx today announced that the team is hosting a pregame block party for its fans prior to Sunday's Game 1 of the 2011 WNBA Finals presented by Boost Mobile. The official Lynx block party will be held on Target Plaza, in front of the Gate 34 entrance, from 5:30 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. Game 1 of the 2011 WNBA Finals between the Lynx and the Atlanta Dream will tip off at 7:30 p.m.
The Lynx block party will feature a musical performance by one of the Twin Cities most popular party bands Urban Myth, who plays everything from classic rock and funk to current pop and R&B. Additionally, there will be food and beverages available as well as fan interactives, face painting and poster making.
"We're thrilled with the opportunity to provide Lynx fans with a block party before Game 1 of the 2011 WNBA Finals," said Conrad Smith, Lynx chief operating officer. "Lynx fans are the best in the WNBA and I know that they will be ready to kick off the festivities of the WNBA Finals early Sunday evening at the block party and carry that energy into Target Center at game time."
After sweeping the Phoenix Mercury in the Western Conference Finals 2-0, the Lynx will make their first-ever WNBA Finals appearance when they face off against the Atlanta Dream.
In response to the demand for Sunday's Game 1, the upper level of the Target Center will be open. Upper level tickets are available for as low as $15. Tickets can be purchased by calling 612-673-8400, visiting the Lynx website at LynxBasketball.com or in person at the Target Center Box Office and all Ticketmaster outlets.
