MINNEAPOLIS/ST. PAUL - The Minnesota Lynx today announced the team has signed free agent Bridget Carleton to a seven-day contract. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed.
A Chatham, Ontario native, Carleton was selected by Connecticut in the second round (21st overall) of the 2019 WNBA Draft on Apr. 10. The 6-1 forward appeared in four games with the Sun, logging 7.3 minutes per contest, before being waived on July 3. In addition, she played in four of six games for Canada at the 2018 FIBA Women's Basketball World Cup, held last September in Tenerife, Spain.
Carleton was named the Big 12's Player of the Year this spring, following a senior season at Iowa State that saw her tally 21.7 points (on 46.8% shooting), 8.6 rebounds, 4.0 assists, 2.26 steals and 1.23 blocks in 35 games. She was also selected as the 2019 winner of the Cheryl Miller Award, honoring the nation's best small forward and earning her a spot on the Naismith Starting 5. She completed her career in Ames ranked second on the school's all-time scoring list (2142 points) and first in scoring average (17.3 ppg).
